Our Council Started With a Signature

A very special young man named Joseph Reali was attending Mass at our home parish, Holy Name of Jesus in Woodbury, NY. During that Mass, the Knights of Columbus from a nearby church were conducting a recruitment drive. Of all the men who attended masses, the only person to sign up after an entire weekend was Joseph. Shortly after that weekend, at only 25 years old, he passed away from an enlarged heart.

So moved by his willingness to step forward, and knowing the incredibly faithful Catholic man that he was, our Pastor, Msgr. Richard Bauhoff, along with the Knights of Columbus, decided to form a brand new council in his memory—the Joseph Mario Reali Council #16261.

Within the first two years, the council grew to over 40 members and continues to grow today. Moreover, we are one of the youngest councils in the entire east coast.
